There is a pontoon boat included in your stay (there is NO public boat launch on this lake)! Backwoods Lodge is your home away from home with activities such as a poker table, pool table, fire pit, paddle board, canoe, volleyball court, corn hole, private lake access, as well as snowmobile trails. Relax with family and friends at a Northwoods retreat. The cabin is a newer build at the end of a quiet road near the start line for the Prince Haakon cross country ski race. It can accommodate large groups with as many as 12 in the cabin on beds and pull out furniture (plus a bunkhouse). Connect to CAMBA mountain bike and American Birkebeiner Nordic ski trails from the front door, through private trails and the Mosquito Brook trailhead. Our layout is set up as a small fishing resort. Gramma and Grandpa hand built and cleared the land almost 70 years ago. The took pride in their work and created comfortable, solid cabins. As i have taken over in the last 2 years I have added small modern touches while maintaining the natural, old school feel. We are present as much as possible to help with anything arises but we like to give our guests space to do their own thing.

Backyard trails and Lake Hayward!

Stay in one of the oldest structures in Sawyer County with private Lake Hayward frontage in your front yard and the Birkie trail, atv and snowmobile trails in the backyard! You can hike, bike, ski, or ride the trails directly from our yard. Plenty of parking-driveway is a loop. Cabin was completely renovated top to bottom in spring of 2021. Enjoy serenity and country feel but also close proximity to Hayward. (2 miles to main street)
